Wulf strode casually through the door of the stables. He approached the stall of Feargas, his warhorse. Feargas had a grey coat, and was incredibly large for a horse. A large scar ran across the horse's right flank. Seeing his master walking towards him, Feargas stamped at the bottom of his stall.
"Hullo, Feargas," said Wulf.
Feargas extended his head towards Wulf's pocket.
"I've spoiled you dreadfully, haven't I?" asked Wulf. "And no, I don't have anything for you."
At least HE'S not a carnivore like Bliss, thought Wulf, thinking about his other horse. Ever since that mage's spell hit her all she'll eat is SAUSAGES...
"Been cooped up lately, eh?" asked Wulf, not seeming to care that he was talking to a horse.
At that moment, there was a surprised exclaimation from the stableboy, who rushed to open the door. Wulf looked up curiously from his seat on the door of Feargas's stall.
A large and rather wet figure rode in, brushing snow off himself and his horse, and dismounted.
"Bit nippy out, eh?" asked Wulf.
The figure turned rather quickly. "Be glad that YOU haven't been riding in it, Wulf." It was Wulf's brother Finn. Finn was about an inch taller than Wulf. His (much shorter) hair was also a lighter brown, and his eyes were brown too.
"Actually, dear brother, I have," drawled Wulf. "Today I flew through the bloody sky in this weather. On the back of a dragon."
"So Uncle Drake's here too, then?" asked Finn.
"No, the others and I just decided that horses were out of style," said Wulf sarcastically.
"What others?" asked Finn.
"My squire, a healer-in-training, and another squire," said Wulf.
"Since when do you have a squire?" asked Finn.
Before Wulf could answer, the door opened again. This time, Rosemary walked in.
"Finn! You're here too! Both of you, in the same day!" said Rosemary, walking over to hug her other son. "I'll have to tell Ann to set out ANOTHER plate!" she said, scurrying back to the kitchens.
"Gods, I'm freezing," said Finn. "I think I'll go take a bath."
"For once, Finn, I agree with you," said Wulf, heading out of the stables and up to his rooms.
"Hullo, Feargas," said Wulf.
Feargas extended his head towards Wulf's pocket.
