Wulf's sister Mira looked up from her needlepoint. She was completely and utterly bored. Too bad I can't go riding, she thought to herself. Bloody snowstorm. With this, Mira looked out the window, only to see snowflakes whirling every which way, and the three feet of snow covering the grounds of the castle.
"I wonder when Wulf, Finn, and Uncle Drake are going to get here?" she mused to herself aloud. Her gaze reverted to the window. What was that dark shape in the sky now? It looked a bit like...
"Mum!" Mira shouted, running towards the stairs leading upwards. "Uncle Drake's here! He's come by dragon, and it looks like there's more people on there too!"
The needlepoint lay thrown on the floor, very much forgotten.

Wulf slid off the back of Malcithar and onto the roof of one of the turrets of Sturmhammer Gorge, which his uncle often used as a sort of dragon landing pad.
"If I ever need some sort of big punishment to torture an enemy with, remind me to put them on the back of a dragon and have them ride through a snowstorm," said Wulf to Kat. "That was NOT pleasant."
The trapdoor leading into the castle opened up, and out came his mother, followed by his sister.
"Hullo, Mum," said Wulf, striding over to give his mother a hug.
Rosemary of Sturmhammer Gorge kissed her younger son on the cheek, and then frowned. "You've gotten your ear pierced? And your hair... don't you find it's legnth a bit... silly?" she asked.
"No, not really," said Wulf. Not five minutes here and she's already on me about the hair, thought Wulf.
"And who is everyone?" asked Rosemary, seeing Dage, James, and Kat.
"Oh," said Wulf. "Let me introduce you. This is James, who's a squire at the palace, and his twin sister Dage, who plans on becoming a healer. And this is Kat of Willow's Hollow, my squire," he said, pointing to each in turn.
"You've got a girl squire, Wulf?" asked Mira. "That's wicked cool! I'm Amira of Sturmhammer Gorge," she said, sticking her hand out to Kat. "But call me Mira, because Amira sounds too stuffy," she said, ignoring the visible frown from her mother.
