Intro
Usually while I’m working I merely write my research notes and draw blueprints and whatnot, but this time I’ve decided to write a journal as well. So here goes nothing.
Entry #1
I’ve arrived with Malcithar far ahead of the other knights. I even managed to get my stakes on a private cabin, though it feels more like a closet than a cabin. I had forgotten what having the military move you around was like. One second it is Midwinter and there is snow as far as the eye can see, next you’re in the middle of the desert with sand as far as the eye can see. Speaking of Midwinter, it has been starting to get on my nerves that I can’t find the spells to go with Mal’s gift anywhere. So my project while I’m here is to create them. Well I’m closing this up for today; Wulf’s group should be coming in soon.
Entry #2
I’ve been at my project for a full month now; in fact I’ve barely left my “cabin” except for meals, visits to Malcithar, and trips to the lavatory. I’ve gone through 50 scrolls of parchment (both sides) in theories alone. I’m sure I’m on the edge of something big, but what it is I’m not entirely sure.
Entry #3
It has been a month since my last entry, for a total of two months here. I’ve finally managed to work the theories together into a workable system. I still need to tweak it some but this is bigger than I could of ever imagined. If things go as planed I will be able to break down a substance, and then reconstruct it however I want. I’ll stop there before my journal starts becoming my research notes, but once I perfect the system there will be nothing thatwill can hold me back. I will no longer be the old warrior holding on to a lost dream. I will be the father of alchemy.
Entry #4
Well the system is complete and workable. I’ve far from perfected it but I have managed to fuse some of the grains of sand together to form a pebble. Tough as I went to find my nephew, Sir Wulfenstein, to inform him of my discovery I found he was not there. I hope nothing too bad has happened to him. Even as a lad he would wander off, but he would always eventually find his way home.
Entry #5
It’s about a month until we leave this lifeless region of land. My use of this new science has improved greatly. Now I’m capable of repairing the guard wall within minutes, as opposed to the days it would take a team of carpenters to repair it. I saw my nephew in the city today, though he wasn’t just visiting. It seems during my studies he got into a fight with his fellow knights. Of course the captain didn’t really want them near each other so Wulf (and therefore his squire Kat) got transferred to patrol. Ordinarily that would make me irate, but recently I’ve learned that if there is one thing my nephew has, it’s honor. So despite his rash and rude nature, I’m actually proud of him. And plus I’ve decided that outside of Sturmhammer Gorge, I won’t hold my authority over him. He’s his own man from here on out and I’ll let him deal with his mistakes.
((Wow. This is long. Oh well, I'm not going to edit stuff out so enjoy))
